Is your morning cup of "joe" a non-negotiable?
Do you have to watch your favorite team every time they play?
Would you get antsy if you couldn’t check your phone for a day...or for five minutes?
If you answered yes to even one of these questions (and if we're being honest, we probably all did), then have I got a Sainthood Snippet for you!
Today we're talking about attachments.
Nope, not sinful ones.
I'm talking about attachments to things that are morally neutral, like simple creature comforts, possessions, or harmless entertainment.
Because the unsettling truth is - even these attachments can sometimes hold us back from holiness.
Lent Will Be Here Before We Know It!
We're doing something a little different this Lent!
Last year, we worked our way through Introduction to Real Prayer together for Lent. This year, we're diving even deeper into prayer with St. Teresa of Avila's 9 Grades of Prayer!
But we're not stopping on Easter - this will be a 14-week challenge to take FULL advantage of all those Lenten AND Easter graces!
This challenge will only be available to Science of Sainthood members - so if you're not already a member, join today!
But Matthew, you say, how on earth can my cup of coffee be a stumbling block?! I only drink one...well....two a day - and I don't even use sugar!
Don't get me wrong - it's not a sin to drink coffee or watch sports.
But our goal isn't just to avoid sin - it's to make serious progress up the spiritual ladder to heaven.
And while we're certainly not trying to remove any and all pleasure from daily life - that is not the Catholic way - anything earthly that we can't do without - yes, even coffee - is going to weigh us down as we try to climb the divine ladder.
